 At Woodbridge Elks B.P.O.E. Lodge 2116. This years event is a little different. This year our Oktoberfest/Pig roast will be fundraising for Rooting For Riley.

The below post is to give a little background on Riley, what's she's going through and why this event is important

On April 5, 2024, Riley Davis was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. This is an aggressive form of blood cancer. Riley was treated at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) for the first phase of intense chemotherapy called “Induction.” After a successful first phase of treatment, Riley was able to be transferred from CHOP to St. Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick where she is being treated with a combination of inpatient and mostly outpatient chemotherapy. By January 2025, Riley should be in a phase called “maintenance” where she will continue with less intense chemotherapy for about 2 years.

Prior to her diagnosis, Riley was just like any other 4 year old enjoying new hobbies like gymnastics and playing with her little brother every day. She has had to make a drastic lifestyle adjustment and has adapted to her new routine of planned (and unplanned) hospital visits, finger pricks, blood transfusions, at-home nurse treatments, port accesses, and daily medications at home.

She has a great support system of family and friends and will continue to fight this battle one day at a time
